Memorial Stadium Plane Crash

PhotobucketOn December 19, 1976, just minutes after the conclusion of an NFL playoff game with the Pittsburgh Steelers, a small plane buzzed the stadium, and then crashed into the upper rows of the upper tier of seating. Fortunately for the fans, the Steelers had won the game handily (40-14), and most of the fans had already exited the stadium by the time the game ended. There were no serious injuries, and the pilot was arrested for violating plane safety regulations.

The "Sack Pack"

Anyone remember the "Sack Pack" from the mid-70's? Can you name more than one player? Here they are: Defensive ends Fred Cook and John Dutton, and defensive tackles Mike Barnes and Joe Ehrmann made up the Sack Pack.

1976 Divisional Playoff Game vs. Steelers

I only attended a couple of Colts games. My first was the 1976 Divisional Playoff game against the Steelers. I believe a co-worker of my father had a couple of extra tickets, very close to mid-field, as I recall. It was a cold, overcast day, but I remember the thrill of walking up the ramp and seeing the field in person for the first time. I remember clearly the 3rd play of the game, when Terry Bradshaw through a 76 yard TD pass to John Stallworth. That's the only play I remember. The Colts lost 40-14.
